ABSTRACT
Background: High-risk pregnancy is a major health problem worldwide. Health-related quality of life in pregnancy is still a significant concern in providing midwifery care. This study aims to determine the relationship between high-risk pregnancy and the quality of life of pregnant women in the Kalibaru Kulon Health Center, Banyuwangi district, Indonesia.
Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 84 pregnant women from a population of 521 pregnant women using simple random sampling according to the inclusion criteria (gestational age > 24 weeks) and exclusion criteria (disability, mental disorders, and emergency) from October to November 2023. High-risk pregnancy is assessed based on the Poedji Rochjati scorecard, while quality of life is measured using HRQoL (health-related quality of life).
Result: The results showed that the prevalence of high-risk pregnancy was 41.7%, and there was a significant relationship between high-risk pregnancy and quality of life in pregnant women (p<0.05). The odds ratio shows that high-risk pregnant women are 11.5 times more likely to experience low quality of life compared to low-risk pregnant women.
Conclusion: Assessment of quality of life in pregnant women in primary health care facilities is an important preventive measure.
